Winter Computer Classes Continue

Rodman Library’s computer classes continue in February and will run through March. Classes will be held on February 21 & 22, and 27 and the last month of classes will be held on March 1, 7 & 8, 14 & 15, 21 & 22, 27, and 29. Hands-on classes are limited to nine (9) persons and a maximum of two (2) alternates. All classes start at 10 a.m., except where noted at 6:30 p.m., and last about one hour. Registration is required and accepted by telephone or in person. Call 330-821-2665, to register.

Excel Basics: Learn the basics of Microsoft Excel 2007, how spreadsheets work, and how to enter data and formulas to calculate results. A sample project will be created to demonstrate these concepts. Prior experience with Microsoft Word is preferred. Class date is Tuesday, Feb. 21

iPad Basics: This class will introduce you to some basic features on your iPad and some popular apps to get you started. Learn how to download apps, close apps, change settings, and more. Please be sure your device is charged and you know your passwords. Class date is Wednesday, Feb. 22

Resume Basics/Online Job Searching: Do you want a professional looking resume to give to employers? Learn the basics of writing a successful resume using our WinWay Resume Deluxe software. Bring a flash drive to save your progress or be prepared to email a copy to yourself. Prior experience with using a keyboard and mouse is preferred. Class date is Monday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

Google Drive: A free online alternative to Microsoft Office, Google Drive offers access to Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more with free cloud storage. An active Google account is required. Please see a Reference Librarian if you need assistance setting up an account. Class date is Wednesday, Mar. 1

Basic Computer: Learn the basics of the computer and common desktop elements including the power button, Start menu, windows, and files. There will be a short introduction on the functions of the mouse and keyboard. Class date is Tuesday, Mar. 7

Searching the Net: The focus will be on various search engines, and how to become a better Internet searcher.  Prior experience with using the Internet is preferred but not necessary.  Class date is Wednesday, Mar. 8

Word Basics: Become familiar with Word through an overview of this program -- word processing, how to copy, paste, add page numbers, format a document, and use templates. Attendance at Computer Basics or prior experience with Windows is preferred. Class date is Tuesday, Mar. 14

Email Basics: Reading and sending emails, plus attaching and opening attached files are explained using a free email account from Google. The class is suited to those who do not currently have an email account and are interested in creating one. Prior experience with using the Internet is preferred. Class date is Wednesday, Mar. 15

Publisher Basics: Learn how to design print materials with this desktop publishing application. Make signs, brochures, newsletters, and more. Prior experience with Windows and Microsoft Word (any version) is preferred. Class date is Tuesday, Mar. 21

Android Basics: This class will introduce you to some basic features on your tablet and some popular apps to get you started. Learn how to download apps, change settings, connect to Wi-Fi and more. Please be sure your device is charged and you know your passwords. Class date is Wednesday, Mar. 22

Online Genealogy Research: This class is for those new to genealogy research or interested in getting started. We’ll explore Ancestry, Family Search, and other valuable online resources. Prior experience with using the Internet is preferred. Class date is Monday, Mar. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

Social Media: Intro to Facebook - Facebook, the largest social media network, gives you the opportunity to share information with your friends and family. Learn how to post a status, share a photo and many other basic features. Bring your sign-in information if you want to participate, but come and watch if you are just curious. Class date is Wednesday, Mar. 29
