The Alliance-based Jane Bain Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is collaborating with the American Battlefield Trust to support an “American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit” celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The innovative pop-up exhibition includes display panels and interactive digital kiosks that use storytelling, illustration, technology and unique artifacts and primary accounts to connect modern audiences with the people and places that shaped the birth of our nation.
The exhibit will be on display inside the Rodman Public Library Auditorium from Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16.
The exhibit will open on August 12 at noon and can be viewed during the hours the library is open through August 16 at 4 p.m.
The exhibit consists of 12 panels, designed to be arranged in pairs that cover thematic topics raised by the individuals featured in the exhibition. Examples include “Choosing Sides,” “On the Front Lines” and “Freedom or Slavery.” Three touchscreen displays augment the panels – one focused on the featured individuals, one highlighting places connected to those stories that can still be visited and one that includes Trust-produced animated maps that offer deeper context by showing the course of the full Revolutionary War.
For those interested in exploring their roots, the hosting chapter will have genealogists on site for you to learn about your connections to Revolutionary War patriots. The exhibit is free to all and takes a half hour to view.
