Madcap Puppets to Stage The Nutcracker at RPL

Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is a classic holiday story that has been enchanting audiences since the 1890s.

But have you ever seen it told by giant puppets?

Madcap Puppets will bring its version of The Nutcracker to the Rodman Public Library stage on Monday, Dec. 13 in two performances – one at 5:30 p.m. and another at 7:00 p.m.

The classic rendition of The Nutcracker is told through a two-act ballet with the famous score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The Madcap version is adapted by veteran actor Dylan Shelton, an artistic director who has been with the theater troupe since 2002, and twists the story into a fantastically funny tale, filled with giant puppets, comical characters, and audience participation.

In the plot of the Madcap production, Clara needs a little help from The Nutcracker to keep the Sugarplum Fairy from spoiling the holiday festival. What ensues is sure to get big laughs from the audience in this family program open to all ages.

Space is limited and registration is required on the Rodman Library online calendar, or by calling the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Based in Cincinnati, Madcap is nationally recognized for its engaging and original theater productions.
