April 5 is Local Author Day at Rodman Public Library.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., six local authors – Corrine Dalton, Kristen Kerns, Havelah McLat, Gary Rabuzzi, Tom Wright, and E.C. Yoho -- will greet patrons and sign books that will be for sale inside the Main Auditorium.

Here’s a look at the authors:

Corrine DaltonCORRINE DALTON

Corrine Dalton, an independent author from northeast Ohio, will be promoting her novel If the Cardinal Flies Home, which was published in 2020.

Although she loves writing comedy and romance in all her books, Dalton’s aim is to create understanding and proper representation around mental health issues. When not writing, she works as a professional copy editor and proofreader so she can spoil her two kitties.

Kristen KernsKRISTEN KERNS

Kristen Kerns, a lifelong resident of Alliance, is the author of Pieces of Me In the Dark, published in 2024. The book is full of short stories based on real life situations.

“I love being creative, whether I'm playing with words or with paint,” said Kerns. “Whether I'm playing with pictures or desserts, I love exploring artistic possibilities.”

Havelah McLatHAVELAH McLAT

Havelah McLat grew up on a small farm in rural Ohio, spending hours drawing and then crafting short stories to go along with her illustrations. As she got older, her passion grew to write stories about the world, faith, and topics that matter the most to her. She has written several short fictions that have been featured in different anthologies. When she isn’t writing, she reads books, draws, helps with activity events in her church and community, and spends time with her family.

McLat writes in the genres of fantasy and wholesome romance. Her novels include A Forever Summer (2022), When You Returned (2023), and Dust and Crown (2024).

During Author Day, Rabuzzi will be selling only his latest work, The Gasoline Killer: The Complete John Destry Case Files (2024). The book is detective fiction and is a combination of a screenplay trilogy and several prose stories from John Destry's world.

TOM WRIGHTTom Wright

Tom Wright is a resident of Uniontown, calling the Buckeye State his home for the past 39 years. He recently retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after designing safe and quality tires which were used by millions of cars and trucks over a couple decades. With tires in his rearview mirror, more time will be available to spend on his love of traveling and sports.

Wright is an avid enthusiast of America’s National Parks and the country’s national pastime – baseball. The passion for those institutions has culminated in the publication of two books.  One Year… One Quest – A World Record Trek (2024), which covers his 2023 adventure to visit the 428 National Parks managed by the National Park Service. Legendary Tales from the Diamond: Storied Quips, Quotes, and Anecdotes of America’s pastime (2021) contains Wright’s take on the most legendary stories which have been sewn into the fabric of baseball, from the first game in 1846 through the beginning of the 21st century.

E.C. YOHOE.C. Yoho

Originally from a small town in British Columbia, E.C. Yoho now lives in northeastern Ohio with her husband and two spoiled cats, Artemis and Luna. She always loved to write, but did not consider becoming an author until she was driving to work one day and was rear-ended. Writing became an escape that she loved, and ever since then that is all she wants to do.

Yoho writes in multiple genres, including murder mystery about two female detectives from the 1920s -- Cressworth and Lockwood (2021) and Seven Secrets: A Cressworth and Lockwood Mystery (2022) -- to sci-fi dystopian -- Iron Heart: Jemma's Story (2023), Tender Heart: Alise's Story (2024) and Steel Bones: Amaya's Story (2024). The books are YA, but they are for everyone.
