Rodman Public Library will host a Summer Art Gala from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 15 inside the Main Library showcasing the work of students who took part in the four-week Summer Art Experience. The event is free and open to the public. Cookies and punch will be served.

Maker Monday crafters will create a patriotic wreath when they meet Monday, July 17 at 6 p.m. in Rodman Public Library’s Main Auditorium.

Please note the start time for July’s program is earlier than usual due to the time it takes to complete the project.

Rodman Public Library will host an Avengers-themed Tower Escape Room on Tuesday, July 11.

From 2 to 5 p.m., teens, competing in a group up to five will work in 40-minute increments to complete tasks in order to find the shutdown code to stop Ultron from taking over the Avengers Tower.

Registration is required.

With all that Nicole Brown has accomplished in nearly three decades at Rodman Public Library, it is the friendships that she has made that she cherishes the most.

“I will miss seeing the people that I work with every day,” said Brown as she talks about her retirement that will start on July 7.

It is said that you should write what you know.

In Kinley Bryan's case, she turned family stories into a novel titled Sisters of the Sweetwater Fury, which was honored with a 2022 Selfie Award by Publishers Weekly.

Can’t find time to get to the zoo?

The Akron ZooMobile is coming to you at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 24 when it visits Rodman Public Library.

Due to a number of circumstances, the Akron Zoo cannot guarantee what animals will be featured during the 45-minute presentation. However, kids will get to meet three animal ambassadors such as Chloe the Kinkajou, Forest the Porcupine, or Penny the Opossum.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Helping patrons find information they need. Working with a fun and creative staff, and creating programs that keep patrons coming back.

Alliance Vinyl Club will meet at Rodman Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 5.

Although it is called a club, there is no formal membership and no registration is required to attend the program, which is open to all music lovers. Those attending are encouraged to bring in some of their favorite records to play a selection or two for others.

Rodman Public Library will screen The Super Mario Bros. Movie during a Family Movie Matinee on Saturday, July 1 at 1 p.m.

Rodman Public Library and the Branch Library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in honor of Independence Day. Both facilities will open for normal business hours, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., both the day before and the day after the holiday.
