Imagine Rodman Public Library is a big tree.
Each department of the library is its own limb. And each program and service of those departments is a twig.
Sitting at the top of that tree, with watchful eyes and helping hands, is a wise owl – the Friends of Rodman Public Library.
Meet Daniel J. Cherry Jr., a member of the Bookmobile staff who has been with Rodman Public Library for one year.
Here are some things to know about Dan:
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I enjoy working with staff and interacting with the children and teachers.
The Main Library and The Branch will be closed July 4 in honor of Independence Day.
Kids, ages 8-12, who like to read will love the Kids Book Club.
Led by Cyndi Shutt, the club meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 4:15 to 5:00 p.m. at the Main Library and each meeting includes a brief discussion of that month's book, a fun activity, and a snack.
If you are a teen who likes to read, you should come to a meeting of the Teen Book Club.
The group meets every third Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library and is led by Jaime Gross.
Joining the group doesn't mean a commitment to attend each meeting. Teens can pick and choose which titles they want to read.
At Rodman Public Library, we believe it’s always a good time to join a book a club.
That’s why we have five of them. – the Kids Book Club (ages 8-12), the Teen Book Club (ages 12-18), Books and Coffee, True Crime Junkies, and the RPL Evening Book Discussion Group.
And joining any of those clubs doesn’t mean you are committed to attending every monthly meeting. Readers can pick and choose which meetings they wish to attend. If a selection doesn’t suit you, simply skip it.
Meet DJ Digianantonio, the head of reference/teen services at RPL.
DJ has been with the library for 10.5 years and some of his duties include answering patron questions; planning/executing programs; ordering databases, teen books, video games, and board games; participating in community events; and managing a group of three staff members.
Rodman Public Library’s Summer Movie Series continues in July when it will show The Perfect Storm on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium on Tuesday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m.
Just in time for the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, Maker Monday crafters will create a scarlet carnation wreath when they meet Monday, July 18 at 7 p.m. in Rodman Public Library’s Main Auditorium.
